Our team, led by Matthew Bassett-Scarfe, has many years of experience assisting with matters in the Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court and State Administrative Tribunal. We are knowledgeable across a wide range of areas, including deceased estates, property, civil litigation and commercial disputes and contractual matters.
In addition to our legal team, we also operate an in-house settlement agency – Falcon Settlements. This means we can assist with all your property needs, from advising the contract through to the handing over of the keys. Matthew Bassett-Scarfe
- Matt Bassett-Scarfe is a highly experienced senior lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience. He is the Managing Director of Peel Legal Barristers & Solicitors.
- Matt practices predominantly in the areas of General Commercial Practice,General Civil Litigation, Probate and Inheritance Matters. He has extensive knowledge of Property, Leasing and Conveyancing Matters.
- Given Matt’s litigation experience regarding challenges to Wills and other Deceased Estate matters, unlike many Estate planners he has insight into the various pitfalls and problems that can be encountered in your Estate Planning issues.
Senior lawyer – 10+ years experience
- Janine Montgomery
- Janine Montgomery is an experienced lawyer. Originating from Victoria, Janine was admitted to practice in February 2017. She moved to WA in early-2023 and joined our experienced team in mid-2023.
- Janine practices mainly in the areas of will preparation, property matters (including property issues with respect to deceased estates), and conveyancing.
- With 8 years of experience as a lawyer, more than 20 years of experience in handling conveyancing matters, and a friendly but no nonsense charm, Janine is sure to deal with your matter swiftly and professionally.
- In her spare time, Janine loves to travel and swim. She also enjoys spending quality time with her beloved family and dog.

Jamie sLOAN
- Jamie Sloan joined our firm in 2022 as a Law Clerk. He was admitted to practice as a lawyer in March 2025 and his name was entered onto the High Court’s Register of Practitioners in July 2025. Jamie is currently undertaking a period of supervised legal practice as prescribed by statute.
- Jamie graduated from Murdoch University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Laws (with Distinction) and a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Psychology). He has also completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law.
- Jamie has appeared in the District Court, Magistrates Court, and the Fair Work Commission, and has plenty of experience in preparing Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Enduring Powers of Guardianship. He also works closely with our Principal, Matt Bassett-Scarfe, and assists with Litigation, Probate, Letters of Administration, and Estate Administration.
Senior Conveyancer –
- Bec Bassett-Scarfe
- Bec Bassett-Scarfe has extensive experience in conveyancing. With previous roles as an Outside Clerk, Real Estate Agent, and Conveyancer starting out in the field when she was just 17, her whole life has been dedicated to handling property matters.
- Bec is the Lead Conveyancer at Peel Legal and Falcon Settlements. With 30+ years of experience she is well versed in all aspects of property settlements
- She loves to spend her spare time with her beloved dog and adored family.
